Leading the way
Why the USA should lead the way.

I should start this first by stating that, although I consider myself a Christian, I do not
belong to any church or religious organization. I am probably the least likely person to
put things in context using a belief in God, but my beliefs are based on observations
and logical deductive reasoning. I am not influenced by any particular denomination,
so my views could be accepted by many.

The earth has been around for about four billion years. Man, from most
determinations, about four thousand years. This is a very small fraction of time in the
big scheme of things. The interesting thing is that for these four thousand years, all of
the civilizations before ours had all of the same natural recourses available to them
that we have today. So why is it, that in the last 232 years, our country, our civilization,
has made unbelievable leaps and bounds in advancements? Compared to the last
four thousand years, the past 232 years is a split second, barely two and one half
lifetimes.

I think it can be summed up in one word: FREEDOM. For thousands of years, the land
we inhabit sat virtually untouched, populated only by a few who’s purpose in life was
to appreciate and nurture the land. During the same period in time, while this land
remained undiscovered by the east, countries, kingdoms and civilizations came and
went in the eastern hemisphere all based on the conquering and domination of man
by other men. Some even did it in the “Name of God”, as if they had been chosen to
play God’s roll on Earth.

Even after some free thinking and brave soles figured out that the world was not flat,
and ventured out to discover this “New World”, countries from the eastern
hemisphere tried to expand their borders and controls of this land. Eventually, some
more brave soles felt this was an opportunity to truly make this a “New World” free
from the idea of man ruling man. They felt that it was a God given right for man to live
free and for the government to serve man, not for man to serve the government.

As smart and insightful as the founding fathers were, their definitions still needed
some redefining and modifications. An example is that when they stated “All men are
created equal”, they literally meant all “Men”, excluding the women. They also did not
consider those not of European decent as men. Nonetheless, this was a great start
and was maybe by God’s design. It provided ways for future leaders to refine and
expand the basic beliefs and reap new rewards.

I’m a firm believer in “Give a man a fish and he will have dinner, teach him how to fish
and he will never go hungry.” This is the point where you must go fishing yourself to
truly understand my point. On this fishing expedition, make note of the advancements
of technologies that parallel the advancements of freedom and equality. See the early
advancements made after winning our freedom. See the advancements after the
freedom of the slaves, equal rights to women, equal rights to minorities. As we
advanced, we have been rewarded with new discoveries that have enhanced our lives
on this Earth; the whole time, unlocking secrets that have been here the last four
thousand years. Secrets that were withheld until a civilization, a country, found the
right path.

If you were to argue in a court of law as to the civilization that should be the example
to all, the evidence would be overwhelming as to the advancements and discoveries
rewarded to those of The United States of America. On the contrary, the occupants of
the Middle East have contributed virtually nothing during their four thousand years of
existence. They live in jealousy of the west, but lack the understanding and motivation
to improve their own surroundings. They teach their young that the west is out to
“conquer” and “occupy” their countries when the contrary has been proven over and
over again. In the case of Japan’s surrender after World War II, our countries
embraced each other, treated each other with respect and in very short order worked
together to re-build their country and economy. Today we have been friends for
decades and warriors from both sides that had fought each other on the battlefield
have met and embraced. They even recently played a game of softball on a field near
Pearl Harbor , the place were our fight began. I’m sure that those that lost their lives
that day in 1942 looked down on that game and are proud of the aftermath of their
sacrifices.
